Successful Social Media Competition

This year’s Social Media Competition proved highly successful! The winner, Nikki Fregosi, posted entries on both Facebook and Instagram, which competed with 281 other social media entries that were submitted throughout the 99th Annual AMWA Meeting.

The rules were simple. Participants completed a short survey in order to be eligible. After this, it was necessary to submit any combination of at least five qualifying social media items to enter the raffle contest. Qualifying social media items included liking the American Medical Women’s Association page plus posting a photo or status to the page with #AMWA99 or liking the page and making the status public while tagging American Medical Women’s Association and adding #AMWA99. On twitter, participants could follow @AMWADoctors and tweet photo or status with #AMWA99 and tag @AMWADoctors. Lastly, on Instagram, participants could follow AMWADOC and post a photo with #AMWA99 and tag AMWADOC. After completing five social media items, each additional social media item qualified participants for an additional entrance into the raffle contest, with a maximum of ten eligible social media items for a total of six raffle entrances. Several members met the maximum number of social media items and were entried into the raffle six times. Aleena Paul was one of the members who reached this goal.

Maria Phillis also met the maximum number of social media items.

Parin Patel was entered into the raffle six times, as well. Finally, Kelsey Stayer was another member who reached the maximum number of social media items and was entered into the raffle six times.

The results were tremendous! On Twitter, 195 total tweets were sent and 45 new Twitter participants joined our social media efforts. On Facebook, 12 new participants became involved and 29 new Facebook posts or photos were submitted. Twenty new Instagram users joined in and 57 new photos were posted with a total of 130 photos tagged with #AMWA99. Overall, we achieved a total of 281 social media items and the social media committee is thrilled! We welcome our new followers and encourage members to keep spreading awareness and AMWA love!
