Jackie Wong

Jackie Wong is currently an MSIII at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. She graduated with distinction and honors from University of Toronto in 2011 with a Specialist in Health and Disease. She previously served two terms as Co-Editor-In-Chief of the global health magazine, Juxtaposition. She also Co-Founded and served as Co-President for Women Out Loud, a student group committed to the awareness of women and gender issues.

Jackie spent the past year serving as Co-President for her Northwestern AMWA chapter and is thrilled to start an adventurous year as the National Student President-Elect for AMWA. She has been a proud proponent of advocacy for women in medicine and the promotion of women’s reproductive rights. Her past projects have focused on increasing exposure to less typically women-dominated specialties within medicine and on mentoring students to pursue medical careers. Her current work involves establishing a scholarship for women medical students. Her goals for this year on the AMWA board are to enhance discourse and collaboration between local chapters and to create an active network of mentorship between AMWA physicians and students. She would like to encourage all women medical students to join this team and to believe in the importance and strength of their ideas.

Outside of AMWA, Jackie spends her time as a researcher in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Northwestern. Her current research involves assessing women’s reproductive health outcomes after chemotherapy for gestational trophoblastic neoplasia.
