Student Division Secretary
Casey Gilman is a third year medical student at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine (SJBSM) pursuing an MD degree in Puerto Rico. She aspires to train as a neuropsychiatrist melding both medicine and research. She received her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavior with specialization in biology and received departmental honors for her work on somatosensation. She is a highly motivated advocate for women from her mentorship to younger women in STEM in her post-baccalaureate research position at Boston Children’s hospital to her current work in her local chapter of American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA). She currently serves as the president of the SJBSM chapter of AMWA and last year had the opportunity to coordinate and oversee the first AMWA regional conference in Puerto Rico for both premedical and medical students giving students the chance to present at a poster session and engage with health leaders throughout the region. She is also a proud dog mom to two Australian Shepard and an avid yogi.
