Addison Sparks

Student Division Region 6 Director

As a third-year medical student at the University of Toledo, Addison has demonstrated a strong passion for serving and empowering the underserved through her work at the CommunityCare Clinics. As Executive Director of this student-run free clinic, Addison led initiatives to provide in-person interpretation for all languages, recruit students and physicians of color, remove transportation barriers through free bus and rideshare fares, and provide equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to underserved communities. Addison presented at the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics’ annual symposium about recruiting volunteer students and physicians to free clinics, highlighting the importance of diversity in the workforce and promoting volunteer retention. In the hospital setting, Addison is passionate about addressing barriers to care and ensuring that patients with limited English proficiency can communicate their needs effectively. As a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, Addison strives to treat her patients with dignity and foster an inclusive environment amongst her colleagues. In her free time, Addison serves as a peer mentor to medical students and as an ESL tutor, encouraging English learners to improve their conversational skills. Addison is excited to continue her medical training as an emergency medicine physician in an underserved region.
