Kate Ryan

Student Division Region 6 Director

An honors graduate of Western Michigan University, Kathleen, Kate, Ryan is a hardworking medical student passionate about women’s health and the achievement of female physicians. She is currently completing her second year at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) where she has served as president for the American Medical Women’s Association and Michigan Representative for Region 6 of national AMWA. She also has a heart for service and has enjoyed partnering with Spartan Street Medicine to provide health care to women experiencing homelessness along with organizing supply drives.

Kate has a particular interest in supporting survivors of sexual violence and aspires to open her own shelter for survivors during her career. She completed her honors thesis on the effects of media-covered sexual violence cases on perceptions of college-aged women and hopes to continue this work in medical school and beyond. Topics such as trauma release exercises, mental health support, and infertility are particularly important to her and her pursuit of becoming an educated and compassionate physician.

Outside of the classroom, Kate enjoys writing music, spending time in nature, and loving on her cats, Iven and Moosh, and dog, Nova. Kate enjoys working on a team and is honored to dedicate her life to giving health and bringing synergy to the world of medicine.
