Katrina McKellips
Region 9 Director
AK, CA, HI, OR, WA
Katrina is a 2015 DO/MPH candidate at Touro University California. She grew up in South Dakota and attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE for her to undergraduate degree in chemistry. Before attending medical school, she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa working with projects focused on girls’ education and women’s empowerment in rural areas of the country.
Katrina feels particularly passionate about providing awareness of women’s health issues in low-resourced settings, believing through knowledge and tangible opportunities to improve the standards of healthcare we can be the change we hope to see. Through its organization and support, AMWA provides a stable platform in which daunting challenges such as these will be more readily attained. During her preclinical years, she was involved in her school’s local chapter and served as president of the Women’s Health Club. She looks forward to the year ahead as Region 9 Director in aiding AMWA chapters in achieving their local, regional and national goals and building a collective vision for the advancement of women in the medical field.
