Haley Manella

Student Division Conference Chair

Haley Manella is an MD candidate at Tufts University School of Medicine class of 2016. After graduating from Boston University with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology, she pursued a career as a Surgical Neurophysiologist. While working full-time in the operating room she completed a Master’s degree before applying to medical school. Her involvement with AMWA began during her first year at Tufts when she joined her chapter’s student board as Liaison. As Liaison she had the opportunity to assist in fundraising and in planning for both chapter and regional events. The following year she was granted the opportunity to serve as Region 1 Student Director. While in this role she planned a mentoring and networking event focusing on the advancement of women in medicine which she hopes will become a yearly tradition.

Passionate about travel and global health, Haley spent the summer of 2013 in Cambodia providing community health outreach and education to mothers and children living in villages outside Siem Reap. She plans to continue this kind of outreach both during her 4th year at Tufts and throughout her career. As a young woman entering the medical profession, Haley looks to make a meaningful impact and hopes that her role in AMWA can help to advance advocacy for the rights of women and children around the world.
