Cristina Font

Student Division Awards Chair

Cristina Font is a third-year medical student at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in psychology. After undergoing open heart surgery while in college, she co-founded an organization called Chronic Gators, a support and awareness group for students with chronic diseases. She also volunteered hundreds of hours with children at overnight camps such as Camp Boggy Creek and Florida Diabetes Camp. She later moved to Puerto Rico to study medicine in an underserved area and to enjoy the close proximity to much of her family. Following the active hurricane season of 2017, she volunteered in a severely affected community of Puerto Rico, raised money for the purchase of supplies and tools, and is currently working with a group of students on a research project that will benefit hurricane victims in the future. She is the founder and president of her medical school’s AMWA chapter, and she strives to maintain the chapter and its members as active and motivated as possible. She has a strong interest in internal medicine and wishes to sub-specialize within that field. In her free time, Cristina enjoys baking and playing the guitar.
