Swathi Prasad, MD
Swathi is a 2018 graduate from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (but a lifelong USC Trojan!). She started her residency in categorical pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin/Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Swathi has dedicated much of her time as a student to women’s groups devoted to improving women’s health and encouraging self-promotion and empowerment. As an undergraduate at the University of Southern California, she was a member of the USC Helenes, whose goal was to support women’s groups and empower women from all communities in and around the Greater Los Angeles area. Upon joining medical school, she immediately joined her local AMWA division where she became branch president and promoted new mentorship events as well as a new annual Women’s Health Week. She then went on to become a national conference co-chair (Hi Laura!) for AMWA 102 in San Francisco, where students asked to increase programming and career-oriented workshops as well as encourage wellness events with other divisions. She has also spent time in other medical school organizations organizing teaching events and research projects to improve adolescent and women’s health and understand the impact of students teaching physical and mental health in Cincinnati.
As Resident Recruitment Chair, Swathi hopes to continue to grow the AMWA Resident Division by reaching out to programs in all specialties and broadening our resident network. By drawing on all of our interests in leadership, research, and advocacy, she hopes to continue to promote mentorship and networking between residents, fellows, and faculty, and encourage new branches to focus on programming that caters to our personal and career goals. She looks forward to meeting many of you and working with you to make this year a great success
