Resident Division
Sondos Al Khatib, MD
Diversity & Inclusion (DEI) Chair
Sondos Al Khatib works at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, as a radiation oncology resident. She grew up in Amman, Jordan, on the other side of the globe. She earned her medical degree there and then began her career treating cancer patients. She worked as a radiation oncologist for almost two years after completing her radiation oncology training in Jordan. Her urge to make a difference and assist driven her to pursue new access to development opportunities for herself and others. She moved to the United States in 2020, at the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States and around the world. Despite the difficulties she experienced, she never lost sight of her goal. She enrolled in AMWA in early 2021 and participated in a variety of leadership courses. She believes that giving power to all forms of diversity is critical to contributing to their unique perspectives and maximizing their potential because diversity and inclusion are not a leisure pursuit but an integral part of the underlying culture.
