Elizabeth Jeans, M.Ed., M.D. is a graduate of Rush Medical College of Rush University in Chicago, Illinois and a current Radiation Oncology Resident at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Jeans has been involved in numerous professional female organizations throughout undergraduate, medical school, and residency as both a member and by serving on various leadership committees. Currently, she serves as a member of several Radiation Oncology specific leadership boards. Through these roles, she advocates for all residents in training. Additionally, by serving as a resident leader in the field, she aims to enhance and support the recruitment of women into underrepresented specialties. She has a distinct passion in continuing to overcome gender bias in the medical field through advocacy and by connecting professional women to raise awareness of these issues. Throughout her career, Dr. Jeans has been pleased to have the support of many strong females in medicine and wishes to continue her work through AMWA by advocating and supporting women in medicine throughout medical school, residency, and transitioning into practice. She is excited to join the AMWA leadership as the mentorship chair and hopes to increase opportunities for women throughout their careers.
