Alexandra Goodwin, MD

Alexandra is a Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Health – Southside and Huntington Hospitals. She received her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2019, and her BA from Harvard University in Human Evolutionary with a secondary degree in Global Health and Health Policy.

As a medical student, she was the Mentoring Coordinator for her school’s AMWA chapter where she started the “Fireside Chats” program to bring female faculty and students together for informal gatherings outside of the hospital, hosted a training for students on recognizing the signs of intimate partner violence in health care settings, and organized the annual “Work-Life Balance” panel.

Alexandra is also passionate about research and Global Health/advocacy She is the author of several publications and poster presentations related to Obstetrics and Gynecology, healthcare disparity, and Orthopedics. In 2019, she had the privilege of returning for the 3rd time to Yantalo, a rural village in Peru, to participate in two medical missions in Internal Medicine and Pediatric Surgery.

As an OB/GYN resident, she hopes to expand upon these passions while pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a surgeon. She is excited to begin her new role as a Conference Co-Chair for AMWA this year, bringing her excitement for women in STEM to the role.
