Region 8 Spotlight

This fall, The University of Arizona COM-Phoenix’s AMWA branch is screening a video on the film “Branded,” a 45-minute documentary film about the realities of sex trafficking in Phoenix. Sex trafficking is one of Arizona’s fastest growing industries, generating millions of dollars every year. One program that helps deal with this important issue and get young sex workers off the streets is “StreetLight USA.” This program is designed to get child victims out of the business of sex trafficking and back to a normal life. The organization addresses child sex trafficking through awareness, prevention, and direct care. After the screening of “Branded”, the producer and former sex worker will talk about the current situation in Phoenix. We will ask students to bring (young) women’s clothing, gift cards, or cash to donate. For more information, please visit Street Light’s website.
