Premedical Region 6 Director
Alexandra Baum is a Senior at the University of Michigan majoring in Neuroscience graduating in Spring 2019. She will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Tufts Medical School in 2019-20. She strongly believes in AMWA’s mission in empowering women in medicine and was a founding member of the Premedical AMWA branch at the University of Michigan. Besides AMWA, she is a huge advocate of mental health and serves as a facilitator to lead weekly support groups to peers on campus. She also works on a committee on Central Student Government that works to make mental health resources more accessible to students. Additionally, she volunteers at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor as a pediatric oncology tutor to inpatients and at the V.A. Hospital in Ann Arbor as a friendly visitor. Alex loves research and is currently finishing her senior thesis on stress and motivation in a Neuropsychology lab on campus. Previously, Alex has conducted research in pharmacology and TBI labs at University of Michigan Medical School and University of Pennsylvania, respectively.
