Valerie Sapienza

Premedical Division Region 3 Director

Valerie Sapienza is a Masters of Biomedical Sciences student at the University of Miami (UM) where she plans to graduate in Spring 2019. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. Neuroscience and Behavior and minor in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in December of 2017. Valerie has been a proud AMWA member since Spring 2016 and was the founding president of the AMWA branch at FAU, as well as served as Pre-Medical Region 4 Director for the 2017-2018 term. Valerie has been volunteering for the Stroke Department of the Phil Smith Neuroscience Institute at Holy Cross Hospital for over three years. She enjoys volunteering as both a session leader and performer for a non-profit organization, Mind & Melody, which brings music to dementia patients. Valerie is a Shot@Life Champion, where she advocates for the research and funding of global childhood vaccinations. Valerie is passionate about women’s health and conducted research on the HPV Vaccine at FAU. Currently, she is working in a Molecular Mechanisms of Depression lab at UM.
