Student Internship Opportunity

Web-Based Sex and Gender Digital Resource Project Seeking Student Intern as Media Specialist and/or Webmaster

Innovative, outgoing, friendly and progressive person with some online publishing and internet community experience to coordinate, organize, direct, and manage a Web-based Sex and Gender Specific Library which will inform the medical community in evidence-based, high quality, gender-specific care of women.

With the support of the American Medical Women’s Association, The Society for Women’s Health Research, and the Foundation for Women’s Health, the Sex and Gender Women’s Health Collaborative was created in 2009, with the vision of integrating sex and gender knowledge into medical education and practice to improve healthcare for all.

We are looking for a responsible, independent and deeply committed person to work with us to enhance our web-based project.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Searching the current literature and web for appropriate sex and gender specific articles, case studies, conferences, webinars, online courses, medical meetings, teaching tools, and curricula to populate our web-based digital library.
  2. Contacting potential authors/contributors and making their contributions simple to post and use.
  3. Working closely with the SGWHC Executive Director to coordinate and place these materials on the sgwhc.org site.
  4. Frequent communications on Facebook, Twitter, and other appropriate social media to increase traffic to the site. Tweets and Facebook posts should consist of at least 20 per week.

Strong writing, spelling, language, grammar skills are required; some editing skills required to assure that materials are grammatically and scientifically correct. Some knowledge of sex and gender differences, (or at least knowledge of women’s studies) a plus.
