On August 28th, The Hill published an op-ed written by Drs. Connie Newman and Kim Templeton, on opioid addiction in women, emphasizing how sex differences in pain perception and response to opioids increase the risk of opioid addiction in women. They suggested that women should be encouraged to talk with their doctors about pain management strategies, including opioid and non-opioid medication and strategies such as physical therapy or biofeedback. Connie Newman and Kim Templeton are founding members of the new AMWA Opioid Addiction in Women Task Force.
