The American Medical Association Women Physicians Section (WPS) in conjunction with the AMA Foundation has established the Joan F. Giambalvo Fund for the Advancement of Women with the goal of promoting women in the medical profession and strengthening the ability of the AMA to identify and address the needs of women physicians and medical students.
Recent topics have included gender differences in promotion and retention; empathy and burnout among emergency medicine residents; reproductive barriers and outcomes among female medical students and trainees; flexible work options; and promotion and retention of diversity in medical education.
