AMWA’s Diversity and Inclusion committee has been working hard this year on initiatives that promote our goals. One of these initiatives was the development of the National Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Awareness in Medical Research Award.
The Diversity and Inclusion committee advocates for interdisciplinary work engagement in the production of abstracts and posters research projects. We believe incorporating a diversity and inclusion platform that expands on cultural, gender, sex, sexual orientation, race or social environmental factors will expand the multidisciplinary approach of AMWA’s annual national conference.
Presented to a deserving AMWA Medical Student at the Annual Meeting, the award recognizes the best in class poster that incorporates themes that include diversity inclusion in the topic area, methods or data analyses and reporting.
The deserving lead author, will receive reimbursement, not to exceed $1000.00, for student registration, travel and meeting accommodations and expenses related to abstract submission and poster production.
We are happy to inform that this year’s awardee is Micha Zeng from the UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program! You can find copy of her work below. We would like to congratulate her efforts in diversity directed research. We hope this award further promotes diverse and inclusive research among AMWA members in the upcoming conference. We look forward to evaluating your poster next year!
Sincerely,
AMWA’s D&I Committee
