View the Updated Position PaperIn 2014, Brittany Maynard’s battle with terminal brain cancer and her quest to end her suffering started a global discussion about death with dignity that would lead to the passage of California’s Aid-in-Dying law in 2016. A California resident at the time, she and her husband moved to Oregon so that she could end her life under Oregon’s law, rather than suffer months of debilitating pain and seizures. Brittany’s husband, Dan Diaz recently spoke at an event attended by AMWA where he shared Brittany’s passion that other patients would not need to experience pain and suffering at the end of their lives.
