AMWA Recognized at Women Leading the Way, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Readiness Project

“Women Leading the Way,” an event celebrating women (and men) leaders in Alzheimer’s was hosted by the Alzheimer’s Readiness Project, an initiative of Eli Lilly and Company. AMWA was one of 8 organizations recognized at the event along with Jewish Women International, National Organization for Women Foundation, National Partnership for Women and Families, National Women’s Law Center, National Consumers League, Women Against Alzheimer’s, and Alzheimer’s Association.
The featured program, emceed by Kathleen Matthews (award-winning TV journalist), included remarks by Lynda Carter (world renowned actress – Wonder Woman, singer, songwriter), co-authors Dan Gasby and B. Smith (fashion model, restaurateur), David Talbot (Senior Advisor, Eli Lilly & Co), and Senators Ed Markey and Debbie Stabenow. Also in attendance were Congressmen Brendan Boyle, Mike Thompson, Bill Foster, Elijah Cummings, David Scott, Paul Tonko, and Henry “Hank” Johnson and Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro, Lois Capps, Debbie Dingell, Corrine Brown, Katherine Clark, Barbara Lee, and Jackie Speier,
The event concluded with a quote by Maria Shriver:
“I imagine a world without Alzheimer’s. I challenge the belief that there is nothing we can do to prevent, treat, reverse or cure it. I challenge the belief that it affects men and women the same. I will do everything I can to fight this disease, and I will never stop fighting until it’s defeated.”
