This September, during Women in Medicine Month, AMWA promotes mentorship and sponsorship of women in medicine.
New mentoring groups are forming on our on-line mentorship platform, and we are joining the #SponsorHer campaign established by Dr. Julie Silver, Director of the women’s leadership course at Harvard University and in partnership with AMWA and Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) and Executive Leadership in Healthcare (ELH).
Learn about the #SponsorHer campaign and how you can host a sponsorship party within your program or institution. And learn about spentorship, “The act of sponsoring someone and then mentoring them through the process to build their confidence and success.” (Silver, J)
This month, AMWA will be piloting a sponsorship party with plans to implement this into our programming on a regular basis. In addition, we are encouraging all members to sponsor a woman physician who is not a member of AMWA by purchasing a discount membership of $75, good for all categories of membership.
We are also partnering with Korn Ferry to release a series of 4 articles in follow up to our 2022 landmark article, Women in Medicine: Setting the Agenda for Change.
