Tell us about your work.
I am currently a Navy Physician. I currently serve as the assistant program director of the Navy’s Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. I also enjoy lecturing and educating on LGBT Healthcare, and potential health care biases.
What helped you get there?
Mentorship from senior military physicians and the support of my wife, Cassandra.
Have there been any interests that you have continued to pursue outside of medicine? Have you been able to combine these with your medical career?
I have been able to keep up on activities like running road races, triathlons, snowboarding and horseback riding.
What advice do you have for students?
Find strong female mentors who can help give you advice to reach your goals. Pick several mentors for different areas of your life and continually reassess to find your ideal mentors for various points in your life (they can change).
