We welcome Manveen Saluja, MD who has recently been appointed by the Board of Directors to fill a vacated board seat. The term of this appointment will last from now until the annual meeting in 2016. You may know Dr. Saluja from her recent run for a traditional board position in the last election. She was a fabulous candidate then and when this vacated position came up, she willing has agreed to step into the role to complete the the term. She is on faculty at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine where she is an assistant professor of Medicine and teaches Rheumatology. She is associate Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University. She has been active on the publications committee and is committed to mentoring and teaching the physicians of the future. We welcome Connie Newman, MD who has recently been appointed by the Board of Directors to fill a vacated board seat. The term of this appointment will last from now until the annual meeting in 2016. Connie Newman MD FAMWA, a graduate of Weill Cornell Medical College and Wellesley College, is a Board-certified endocrinologist, Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine, and Academic Visitor, University of Oxford, Oxford UK. She has expertise in the management of lipid disorders and diabetes, statin safety, and clinical research. Dr. Newman leads the obesity initiatives for the AMWA Preventive Medicine Task Force, and is a liaison to the STOP Obesity Alliance. She co-chairs the JAMWA Committee, and is a member of PATH, AWHS, and the AMWA Fellowship Committee. She is also active in the Endocrine Society and the American Heart Association, where she is a member of the Women’s Leadership Committee of the ATVB Council. She is committed to improving public health through research, education, and disease prevention, and to the advancement of women in medicine.
