AMWA’s 2019 Corporate Advisory Board Meeting was held on Friday, March 29, 2019 in Washington DC with stakeholders, corporate members, and allies. Dr. Janine Clayton, Director of the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) delivered the keynote address, Working Together to Promote Women’s Health and Sex and Gender Specific Medicine. In particular, Dr. Clayton’s presentation highlighted the leadership of the ORWH in promoting sex and gender specific medicine as well its new 5 year trans-NIH strategic plan for women’s health research and career development.
Dr. Connie Newman, AMWA President, also shared highlights from AMWA’s strategic plan, including the new mission, vision, and values of AMWA, which have been developed over the past 4 months. Dr. Eliza Chin, AMWA Executive Director, reported on the recent success of the 2018 Sex and Gender Health Education Summit which AMWA helped organize with the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health, Mayo Clinic, and the University of Utah.
AMWA looks forward to continued collaboration with the NIH ORWH in these areas.
