AMWA Awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Lifetime Award and the Ruth Rising Naomi Award

On Friday March 10, AMWA awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Lifetime Award and the Ruth Rising Naomi Award from the Ruth Sisters Fellowship International. AMWA member Tannaz Safari represented AMWA at the Generation Equality Gala to receive both awards.

The President’s Volunteer Service Lifetime Award is the highest honor volunteer service bestowed by President Biden though AmeriCorps or Point of Light. The Ruth Rising Naomi Award was to honor AMWA’s work in advancing women in medicine.

“I was honored to be able to accept this award on behalf of AMWA,” said Tannaz Safari. As a member of many years and female doctor in training, I’ve been blessed to have been surrounded by women who never stopped believing in me, never stopped empowering and inspiring me to reach for levels I didn’t know existed.”

“I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Ada Menakaya, founder of Ruth Sister’s Fellowship International for over 15 years in promoting women’s health, well-being, and empowerment. Thank you for this recognition bestowed upon AMWA,” stated Dr. Padmini Murthy, AMWA’s Global Heath Lead.
