Dr. Kanani Titchen, Co-Chair of AMWA-PATH, participated in the HHS Health and Human Trafficking Symposium on November 28-29th in Washington, D.C. Leaders of HEAL Trafficking (pictured below), as well as Dignity Health, Family and Youth Services Bureau, C.A.R.E. Clinic, PurpLE Clinic, the Office on Women’s Health, Futures Without Violence, among others convened under the leadership of Katherine Chon, Director of the Office on Trafficking in Persons and the Department of Health and Human Services to discuss developments in the health care field surrounding efforts to combat human trafficking in the United States. In particular, Ms. Chon noted that a number of professional medical organizations, including AMWA-PATH, have issued statements and devised training tools to help identify trafficked persons, to provide trauma-informed and integrated care to these patients, and to help prevent human trafficking.
