The Raw Science Film festival was held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 in the historic Zanuck Theater at Fox Studios. Winning film screenings included Journey by Radheya Jegatheva, Seat 25 by Nicholas Agnew, and Passage to Mars by Jean-Christopher Jeauffre. Read the Festival synopsis here.
AMWA helped organize a roundtable focused on the Impact of Gender/Sex on Innovation And Novel Technologies (iGIANT) which featured panelists Peter Samuelson (Producer, Philanthropist), Nagin Cox (Jet Propulsion Laboratory), Dr. Marc O Griofa (President/CEO Omega Strategic Solutions), Chris Carberry (CEO, Explore Mars), Keri Kukral (CEO, Raw Science), Dr. Eliza Chin (AMWA Executive Director), Vera Mulyani (CEO & Founder Mars City Design) and Loretta Whitesides (Founder Astronaut, Virgin Galactic) and moderator Dr. Saralyn Mark (Founder and President, iGIANT).
The Awards Ceremony featured Peter Samuelson (Producer, Founder Starlight Children’s Express Foundation), Kip Thorne (renowned theoretical physicist), Stephen Wolfram (computer scientist, physicist), Naveen Jain (entrepreneur, philanthropist), Brent Bushness (CEO Two Bit Circus), Philip Lubin (Professor of Physics, UC Santa Barbara), Dr. Saralyn Mark (Founding President iGIANT), and more. Following the awards ceremony was a premiere screening of the film Hidden Figures.
