The AMA formed the RUC in 1991 to provide clinical expertise in submitting recommendations to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on the time, work and resources that go into the provision of a physician service described by Physician’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes. RUC Advisory Committee members are invited to attend the RUC meetings and are the primary individuals responsible for representing their specialty society at the RUC. The RUC meets three times a year, which is closely coordinated with both the CPT Editorial Panel’s schedule for annual code revisions and the CMS schedule for annual updates in the Medicare Physician Payment Schedule. To learn more about the RUC, please visit their website.
If you are interested, please send your name, contact information, and curriculum vitae to associatedirector@amwa-doc.org. Mentoring from an AMWA board member is available. Applicants must be practicing physicians and current AMWA members.
