U.S. VISA

For international visitors, it is possible that you will need a Visa to enter the USA and attend the conference. Entry requirements for visiting the USA can be found at the Immigration and Citizenship USA and the U.S. Department of State website. Be sure to apply early. A visa waiver program allows residents from certain countries to enter without a visa if they have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval.

In the event that a visa is required, delegates are advised to obtain and submit an official Letter of Invitation from the Congress organizers to help facilitate the immigration process. Please note that Letters of Invitation are only issued to registered and paid/approved delegates.

After you register for the meeting, you will be sent a link to request the Letter of Invitation. Due to the large volume of anticipated registrations, all visa letter requests must be made through the link provided to you after registration. You must complete registration to receive the letter for use with your visa application.  Please do not email us directly about your VISA letter.  You must make the request through the special link provided to you after registration.

When requesting an invitation letter, you will need to submit the following information:

(1) Your full name, as it appears on your passport, (2) Date of birth, (3) Country of citizenship, (4) Passport number and expiration date, and (5) Registration number (found on your registration confirmation e-mail).

Please note that a Letter of Invitation does not guarantee you will be granted a visa. We cannot send the letter to an embassy or consulate for you, nor can we contact the embassy or consulate on your behalf. It is the sole responsibility of the attendee to obtain the necessary paperwork for entry into the U.S.

The registration fee less a handling fee of USD $35.00 will be refunded if the visa was applied for in time and proof is shown that a visa could not be granted even though all requested documents were submitted. Refund requests must be made in writing and sent together with the required proofs to programregistration@amwa-doc.org no later than March 1, 2019. After March 1, 2019, the standard refund policies apply ($75 refund prior to May 1, 2019, no refunds after May 1, 2019).
