UN CSW: Harnessing the Power of Innovation and Technology to Improve Health

Technological innovations including digital apps, sensors, telehealth, deep learning (AI) and cloud computing are changing the way we manage chronic diseases, improve public health, and enhance drug discovery. Join the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) for a discussion on the impact of technology to transform healthcare and address unmet needs. Objectives: 1. Learn about new applications of technology in improving population health 2. Understand the need to ensure that innovations are inclusive of gender, race, and ethnicity. 3. Learn how these new advances can help achieve SDG 3 targets and to reach the 2030 goal: Leave No one Behind

Dr. Nancy RG Church, MD, FACOG, FAMWA, is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology. She was the owner and chief physician at Wellness Connections LLC for 25 years until she sold the practice to Advocate Medical Group where she continues her medical practice. Dr. Church is one of the first DaVinci Robotics surgeons at Advocate Christ Medical Center and continues that practice today.

For many years, Dr. Church has been a leader in healthcare through the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) and with the American Medical Association where she currently serves as Vice Chair of the Organized Medical Staff Section (OMSS) and as Chair of the OMSS Education Committee. For a number of years, Dr. Church had the honor of serving as the AMWA representative to the AMA House of Delegates.

 

 

 

Shaila Rao Mistry is Founder and President of Jayco MMI, an aerospace and medical device company that innovates, designs, and manufactures aerospace and medical device applications. She is passionate serial entrepreneur and a role model for leadership for success.

Kaz J. Nelson, MD, DFAPA, is a psychiatrist and advocate for compassionate and effective care through high quality education and innovation for people living with psychiatric illness. Dr. Nelson works in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Minnesota Medical School and at the University of Minnesota Medical Center providing inpatient psychiatry services. Medical education leadership has been the focus of Dr. Nelson’s career and she has published, presented, and developed educational materials nationally and internationally. Dr. Nelson is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
