Obesity in Women – Expanding Medicare Coverage of Obesity Treatment The Need for Public Feedback

A new Medicare proposed rule recognizes obesity as a chronic disease and increases patients’ access to obesity treatments. Learn more about this pivotal change in policy, its relevance to women’s health, and the opportunity for public comment before Jan. 27.   1. Tracy Zvenyach, PhD, MS, RN, Director of Policy Strategy and Alliances at the Obesity Action Coalition Dr. Zvenyach will explain the current rules prohibiting coverage for obesity treatments under Medicare and Medicaid, to support the new ruling issued the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid through public comment. The opportunity is open only until January 27.  
  2. Eliza Chin, MD, MPH, AMWA Executive Director, will discuss the importance of addressing the specific needs of obesity in women across the lifespan and the timeliness of this new ruling.
