Improving Maternal Health: Behind the Numbers

Celebrating 20 Years of National Women’s Health Week

National Institutes of Health (NIH), Building 1, Wilson Hall
May 15, 2019, 12:00 – 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time

Join the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) for its signature event, the Annual NIH Vivian W. Pinn Symposium. This year’s event will focus on maternal morbidity and mortality. Every year, a large number of women have lasting medical complications or die as a result of difficulties from pregnancy. During this symposium, leading clinicians and researchers will provide updates on this timely public health issue, including a review of current statistics and an overview of relevant programs sponsored by the Federal Government. In addition, speakers will discuss new approaches to improve women’s health before, during, and after pregnancy, as well as throughout a woman’s life course.
