In Honor of the Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell’s 200th Birthday, AMWA has launched a special exhibition –

Celebrating the AMWA Blackwell Award Recipients

In 1949, Dr. Elise Esperance established the AMWA Blackwell Award as a lasting tribute to the first woman awarded an M.D. degree from an American medical school. This award, the Blackwell Medal, is granted every year to a woman physician who has made the most outstanding contributions to the cause of women in the field of medicine. View our growing exhibition as we look back to the past 72 years and support our efforts through a birthday donation of $20-$2000 to honor Dr. Blackwell’s legacy. Donors who gift more than $200 will receive a free, signed copy of the NewYork Times bestselling book, The Doctors Blackwell by Janice Nimura.
