“The Midian Girl” Vanessa al Rashida, MD

Specialty: Internal Medicine

Medium: Clay

Dimensions: 9.75 x 4 x 3 inches

Artist Statement: This piece was created during high school at a local art studio in St. Louis called Craft Alliance. I was inspired by the story of Moses and how he met Tzipporah, daughter of the high priest of Midian, which led me to create this clay sculpture. I decided not to paint the sculpture because I thought it would have taken away from the raw details, particularly in the face. I hope that it touches you the way it touched me the moment it came out of the kiln.
