“Meal’s End” Karen Poirier-Brode MD
Dimensions: 6.5 x 6.5 inches
Artist Statement: This piece is a monochromic study of texture. The idea is the end of the day, after the wine and cheese. The mix of stains and glazes emphasized the texture in the piece. I love to play in clay and love the dichotomy of the medium. Ceramics are so durable over time yet can be so fragile to sudden force, they have an immediacy of creation yet are captured forever, the careful application of stains and glazes yet the unpredictability of the kiln, all fascinate me as an artist.
