Torie Comeaux Plowden, MD, MPH
Torie Comeaux Plowden, MD/MPH, FACOG is double board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI). She is passionate about eliminating health care disparities, treating infertility and fibroids, and improving sexual health. Dr. Plowden is actively involved in clinical and epidemiological research.
She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University. Subsequently, she matriculated at The George Washington University where she completed her Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Public Health. Dr. Plowden completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Tripler Army Medical Center and her REI fellowship at NIH.
Dr. Plowden educates and mentors medical students, residents, fellows and junior staff and serves as an Associate Professor in Ob/Gyn at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She has presented research and given lectures at national and international medical conferences.
Dr. Plowden is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and has received numerous awards including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal. She is currently Chief, Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics Department at Womack Army Medical Center in North Carolina.
In addition to her professional obligations, she is heavily involved in community service and started a Foundation in 2014 in memory of her oldest son.
