Joan Younger Meek, MD, MS, FAAP, FABM

Dr. Joan Younger Meek is the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and the Designated Institutional Official at the Florida State University College of Medicine, where she holds the rank of professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences. Dr. Meek earned a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Kentucky. She completed Pediatric Residency Training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Meek is a board certified pediatrician, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a Fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, a Registered Dietitian, and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She previously served as the residency program director for the Pediatric Residency Program at Orlando Health/Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Clerkship Director for Pediatrics at the Orlando Campus of the FSU College of Medicine. She participates in the Wellness Committee for the FSU College of Medicine and has developed a GME Wellness Committee at her institution. Dr. Meek also Chairs the Section on Breastfeeding of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and is a Past Chair of the United States Breastfeeding Committee.
