Lilian Abbo, MD

Dr. Lilian Abbo is an Associate Professor of Clinical Infectious Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and core faculty in Infectious Diseases for the Miami Transplant Institute. Dr. Abbo is the Chief for Infection prevention and Control and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program for Jackson Healthcare System. Since 2014, she has served as the President of WIAM “Women in Academic Medicine” Advisory Board at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Lilian graduated from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She then pursued an internship at Jacobi Medical Center in NY, an internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Jackson Memorial Hospital/ University of Miami.

Dr. Abbo has over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters/monographs. She has given over 100 oral presentations and more than 50 abstracts in national and international meetings in the areas of antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance and transplant associated infections. Lilian is married and has 2 wonderful children.
