The American Medical Women’s Association works to provide women with opportunities to obtain the skills necessary to advance their careers.  AMWA connects women through national, regional and local conferences, seminars, lectures, networking/mentoring events, webinars, teleconferences and skills training workshops.

National Conferences and Continuing Medical Education

AMWA’s largest continuing medical education event is our Annual Meeting: Achieving Success as Women in Medicine.  AMWA’s Annual Meeting is a leading strategic career and personal development conference for women physicians, medical students and residents. Session topics range from mentoring and breaking the glass ceiling to issues in global women’s health.

This activities are planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the American Medical Women’s Association and the hosting university.

Regional Conferences and Skills Training

AMWA’s regional branches organize skills training and networking events.  Regional events can include seminars on negotiating the pay divide or suturing workshops.

Local Conferences

AMWA’s local branches organize networking and mentoring events that include “mentoring with muffins” and wine and cheese events to discuss test preparation.

Resident and Student Poster Competition

AMWA’s resident and student poster competition provides members with the opportunity to prepare and present research on topics of their choice.  Learn more here
