Neha Deshpande is an M.D. candidate at Harvard Medical School, Class of 2015. In May 2010, she graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. Honors in Biology and a minor in French Cultural Studies. During her first year of medical school, she served as one of the Co-Presidents of the Harvard AMWA student branch and then as the AMWA National Student Treasurer. Neha was the recipient of the 2013 AMWA Anne C. Carter Student Leadership Award, an annual award presented to one national AMWA member for exceptional leadership in supporting and promoting both women’s health and women in medicine.

Neha was also the 2012 and 2013 recipient of AMWA Young Woman in Science Award, and for both years she was awarded 1st place for her first-author research in women’s health. She has a strong passion for clinical research and has written extensively about various women’s health issues. At Harvard, she is currently the Co-President of the Ob/Gyn Interest Group. She is also a Harry S. Truman Scholar, USA TODAY College Academic First-Team winner, Intel Science Talent Search Finalist, and a former intern for the U.S. Surgeon General.

She is excited to serve as the AMWA Region 1 Chair and is looking forward to enhancing communication, teamwork, and interaction among the Region 1 branches.
