Lauren Nicholls grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she attended the University of Scranton.  She currently attends Jefferson Medical College and will graduate in 2015.   While at Scranton, she focused on community service and worked with local female teenagers on leadership skills.  She also organized the End Of the Year Drive, where students donated unwanted items to local agencies whom help families in need.  At Jefferson, Lauren has focused on women's health and advocacy through her efforts in AMWA. She joined AMWA upon entering medical school and has served as the women’s history month chair during her first two years.  She has organized events focusing on all aspects of women’s health.  She also worked on her chapter’s Mentor’s Tea event, which helped students meet mentors at Jefferson.  In addition, she has organized many lunchtime lectures ranging from the first female medical college dean, Leah Lowenstein, to patient centered medical homes.  Lauren is interested in pursuing a career in Family Medicine and family planning.  She would like to practice in a rural area to help improve access to care.  Lauren plans to pursue projects centering on domestic violence and women’s health initiatives.
