Kathryn Anderson
External Relations Chair
Kathryn Anderson is a student in the Class of 2015 at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. She graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s of science in Food Science and Human Nutrition. As a member of the inaugural class at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine she has been a part of establishing a new medical school, as well as many student organizations, including an AMWA branch.
Kathryn, along with a full executive board, founded the AMWA branch at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine both through the university and through National AMWA. In addition to founding the branch, Kathryn served as President for two terms. As President she brought in a variety of speakers, established an Annual Faculty and Student Potluck Mixer, and helped establish an Undergraduate AMWA Chapter at FAU. Also, she has been involved with South Florida AMWA, including volunteering with the South Florida AMWA Health Fair. Kathryn feels she has benefited greatly from the encouragement, inspiration, and networking that being an AMWA member has provided her, and that is her drive to increase her involvement in AMWA by serving in a national leadership position. One of the goals Kathryn has as External Relations Chair is to encourage collaboration between AMWA branches and other organizations at their medical school. She also hopes to collaborate with organizations and corporations outside of AMWA in order to actively seek out opportunities for her fellow AMWA student members.
In addition to medicine, Kathryn’s other interests and hobbies include cooking, running, and college football.
