Kate is a member of the Class of 2016 at Duke University School of Medicine. She earned her B.A. in Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago in 2011, and her M.S. in Human Nutrition from Columbia University in 2012. The links between social justice, social determinants of health, and women’s health outcomes motivated Kate to serve AMWA as both Advocacy Chair, and Vice President of Duke’s chapter. Kate is looking forward to serving on the Physician Policy and Advocacy Committee, and to discussing how federal legislation impacts the health of women. As implementation of the Affordable Care Act continues, Kate hopes to explore coverage gaps and to advocate for women who remain uninsured or experience barriers to care.
