Emily Corcoran
Region 7 Director
AR, IA, KS, MN, MO, NE, ND, OK, SD, WI
Emily is a medical student at the University of Missouri in the class of 2014. As the treasurer of her local AMWA branch in her second year, she loved planning and participating in a variety of panels, lectures, and social events for the Mizzou branch as well as attending the most recent national & region 7 conferences. She has found inspiration everywhere within AMWA and is proud to be an active part of such a great organization of like-minded professionals. She has also had the opportunity during medical school to work with the local health department to begin providing rapid HIV testing at Mizzou’s student-run clinic for the uninsured, a program now well-established as part of routine clinical care for its patients. Before entering medical school, she worked in clinical research on contraception in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis. Her experiences there built a strong foundation of interest in women's health issues and allowed her to work with many inspiring women and men in healthcare. As Region 7 director, Emily can’t wait to get more involved with AMWA groups across the Midwest and help students connect with each other and with physician mentors to better move us all forward.
