Cherilyn Cecchini is currently a first year medical student at Jefferson Medical College located in Philadelphia, PA. She attended The Pennsylvania State University as an undergraduate, where she majored in Biology and minored in Psychology. She served as a NYS Certified Emergency Medical Technician for three years to gain clinical experience in the medical field. She participated in soccer and Club Cross Country at Penn State. As a freshman, she pledged Delta Gamma Fraternity and held numerous positions within her chapter, including Director of Social Standards, Honor Board: Member at Large, and President. She loves Jodi Picoult novels and her hobbies include volunteering, traveling and scrap-booking. Her favorite indulgence is Diet Pepsi.

Cherilyn's words to live by are "never give up." Her advice to young female medical students would be to "defy stereotypes". She has been chosen to serve as Co-President for the AMWA Jefferson chapter during the upcoming year and she is extremely excited to represent this amazing organization! Having grown up in a single parent home, she has been inspired by her mother to pursue my dreams and to safeguard women's achievements. This is what she hopes to do as a member of AMWA.

Cherilyn is thrilled to have been selected to serve as National Secretary. She hopes to motivate women across the globe to join forces so as to inspire activity within all AMWA chapters and to provide valuable resources to female students, residents, and physicians. She plans to work with others to develop meaningful programs and to generate forums for women to gain recognition in science. Her mission is to continue to help AMWA serve as the vision and voice of women in medicine.
