Carey Wickham
Awards Chair
Carey is an M.D. Candidate in the Class of 2015 at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and earned her BA in Biology from Scripps College in sunny Claremont, California. After working on neglected tropical disease research at the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute between college and medical school, Carey road-tripped across the United States through some of our beautiful National Parks to Washington, DC. She had a blast organizing events this past year as a Co-President of both the AMWA and the Medical Students for Choice branches at GWU. She has also enjoyed engaging in diverse research, teaching, community service, and international travel and service opportunities throughout her life. Her professional interests include reproductive health, and global women’s health.
Carey believes whole-heartedly in AMWA’s commitment to advancing women in medicine and is honored to be actively engaged in promoting educational, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for women medical students through AMWA. Carey looks forward to working together with her fellow student leaders to support female medical students at the National level of AMWA as Awards Chair.
