Allison Wilcox
Region 6 Director
IL, IN, KY, MI, OH
Originally from New York, Allison Wilcox is a member of the Class of 2015 at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Allison graduated from Wesleyan University in 2007 with a BA in Government and a Certificate in International Relations. While in college, Allison spent her summers working as a counselor at an all-girls canoe tripping camp in Vermont. Having decided late in college to pursue medicine, she attended the Health Careers Program at the Harvard Extension School from 2007-2009 while working as a research assistant at Partners HealthCare in Boston. Allison then volunteered for the women’s health non-profit WE-ACTx in Kigali, Rwanda, before returning to the US to again work as a research assistant, this time in the Emergency Department at Boston Medical Center.
Allison is proud to be studying medicine in Louisville, the city of her birth, at the same school from which her father graduated in 1973. Having grown up in the northeast, she is grateful for the chance to explore a new, beautiful part of the country. Allison joined AMWA in her first year of medical school, eager to continue supporting women’s rights and learning from female physician mentors. As Director of Region 6 for the 2013-2014 school year, Allison is excited to promote women in medicine in the Midwest, fostering a spirit of community and leadership in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
When not busy with school, Allison loves being outside, exploring Louisville, and playing with her chocolate lab puppy, Walter.
