The AMWA Student Division needs your support! You can help by making a tax-deductible contribution to fund activities that directly benefit women in medical school. Your donations provide support for a number of AMWA Student Division projects, including local, regional and national events, and various medical student scholarships, grants, and awards. Donations support the annual meeting and student conference, as well as production of the AMWA Student Newsflash, our monthly publication that provides students with a wealth of information about events and activities on national, regional, and local levels, about grants and scholarships for which students can apply, and about AMWA student award and grant winners. In addition, your support helps fund educational and health care events for women that are organized by student members on the Regional and Chapter level throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Donations further support student financial grants for travel to AMWA's national meetings and the AMWA National Student Conference, or for transportation to medically-needy areas for international medical school rotations. Finally, your donations support need-based financial scholarships for female medical students, as well as academic and leadership awards.
All of these programs and scholarships require funding to operate and to succeed, and the programs mentioned are just the beginning! We have so many more ideas and plans for providing assistance to female medical students and for promoting educational events focused on the health needs of women.
Donations can be made to the AMWA Student Division's general fund by clicking on the "Donate today" link below and scrolling to the bottom of the page where you can select "Student Affairs." General fund donations provide support where most needed at that time, whether for general operating expenses, funding our annual meeting, or providing support for scholarships and awards. Alternatively, you can specify that your donation is intended to support us in a particular area of your choosing, such as to fund need-based student scholarships, student travel grants or fee waivers for our national meeting, student leadership awards, global health fellowships, or our annual student research poster competition. The various fellowships, awards and grants that we sponsor can be viewed on our Student Awards and Scholarship page. Simply e-mail us if you have specific instructions about how you would like your donation used and we will happily honor your request.
