Building a Healthier Chicago and the Chicago Medical Societyare hosting a symposium for medical and health professions students in the Chicago area interested in experiencing a genuine exposé of the real health issues and inequities in urban Chicago.
Expert presenters include:
· Dr. David Ansell, Senior Vice President, Clinical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer, RUSH University Medical Center andAuthor of County: Life, Death and Politics at Chicago’s Public Hospital
· Dr. Bechara Choucair, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health
· Dr. Neelum Aggarwal, Clinical Co-Leader, Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center
· Dr. Tariq Butt, Deputy Medical Officer, Access Community Health Network
· Patient & Physician Testimonials, patients will speak to their experience receiving health care and services in various settings across Chicago; care providers will share their experience caring for a diverse patient body and their role in addressing health disparities
Topics to be addressed include the latest data from leading physicians surrounding research on health disparities in Chicago and what this means for health care providers, the City of Chicago’s Healthy Chicago Plan, how to advocate for and shape health care policy in today’s changing health care system, the high prevalence of trauma in our society and its impact on health. Chicago patients and providers will share their experiences within the health care system.
