AMWA Joins This Is Personal Campaign
Around the country, some politicians have been trying to allow bosses to deny coverage of birth control if it conflicts with their moral or religious beliefs. This would put the health care decisions of 40.2 million women in the hands of their employers.
Women's ability to get reproductive health services, from birth control to abortion, have come under increasing attack -- including almost 700 restrictions on women's reproductive health introduced by state lawmakers in 2011 alone. And it’s only getting worse.
So today, AMWA is joining a new campaign called This Is Personal to educate and mobilize a new generation of women to protect women’s reproductive health care - like birth control, cancer screenings, maternity care, and abortion. This Is Personal’s goal is to equip women with the facts and tools they need to talk to their friends, write to their elected officials, and make a difference.
